Input Jack Wiring Guitar

Cut two lengths of new guitar circuit wire one approximately 6 inches long which will serve as a ground wire and the other long enough to reach from the output jack to the pickup selector switch if the guitar has one.

This is the hot wire. If the guitar is a single pickup cut the second length of wire 6 inches as well. Power jacks attach directly to a preamp and can have either a stereo or trs configuration and some preamps are housed within a barrel jack. The various pickups pots switches and caps eventually direct the signal generated by the pickups to the output jack.
